After receipt of spindle, perform a visual inspection prior to installation or putting the unit into storage. Inspection will ensure the spindle has not been damaged during the shipping and unpacking process. If the spindle is to be put into storage, place in an area of low humidity, stable temperature, and no contamination.
To begin the break-in procedure after installation, please refer to the following steps.
If the bearing housing temperature reaches 125°F at any time during the break-in period, or if the temperature of the bearing housing increases by more than 5°F in one minute, reduce the spindle speed to 10% of maximum RPM to allow the temperature to drop. Resume break-in procedure once the temperature has stabilized at an acceptable level.
If the spindle has been idle for more than 24 hours, a warm-up period is recommended before the spindle is placed into production.
